Living the Dream at Island Shangri-La

I’ve always wanted to explore Hong Kong and it has always been a dream of mine to stay at Island Shangri-La. The view of Victoria Harbour from the hotel itself is just breathtaking.

We actually stayed there during Typhoon Mangkhut. It was my first time experiencing one, we were advised to stay indoors. We could see the trees swaying, feel the strong wind blasting against the window. And it rained the entire day! But in saying that, we felt very safe with Island Shangri-La.

There was breakfast buffet, then there was brunch at Lobster Bar & Grill. Think of free-flowing Champagne and wine and delicious bite size treats. Well, I’m more of a peppermint tea kind of girl, and am happy for a free-flow of tea, anytime. My favourite has got to be the lobster bisque. Mmm!

Pink Afternoon Tea was a delight. There were miniature treats to-die-for. Think of Norwegian smoked salmon sandwich, Strawberry cheesecake, Raspberry lamingtons and rose flavoured scones. All yummy!

We always had a wonderful experience at Shangri-La, and thank you Island Shangri-La for an amazing time. Even with the raging typhoon and all. I look forward to returning to Hong Kong again, as there are many places to eat (and explore)!

Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Brussels is a modern Art Deco hotel that includes a stunning atrium, a glass dome and did I mentioned, a river running through the hotel. It is designed by a well renowned architect, Michel Jaspers, whose concept is all about marrying the old and new, in this case, he used an original 12th century wall.

Located in the heart of Brussels, Radisson Blu Royal is literaly around the corner from the old city. Minutes walk to the De Brouckere metro station and La Monnaie De Munt opera house.

The breakfast buffet was delicious with a variety of fruits, muesli, cheese, patisserie and cereals to choose from. The highlight was the waffles... They were yum! And there were little cute milk bottles for soy milk lovers too.

My favourite part of Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Brussels has got to me the beautiful interior of the rooms. It's really classy and modern. The bathroom is to-die-for. All decked in faux marble, it's the a selfie's dream come true, hehe. The modern furniture and artwork compliment one another extremely well. And did I mentioned they have the best hotel pillows and doona? it was so soft to sleep on, I could't believe it's the best I ever slept on!

Looking forward to returning to Brussels again. Have a wonderful week guys!

The Premier Suite of Shangri-La at the Fort

Shangri-La at the Fort's Premier Suite

We arrived in Manila in the evening from Coron island, about an hour away from the capitol city of the Philippines. After a week of island hopping and sipping cocktails on the beach, Leon (@hungrysydneysiders) and I kind of miss the city life.

At the airport, we were greeted by a friendly face, a gentleman dressed in a maroon uniform from Shangri-La. We were taken to our pickup.

We checked into our very first Premier Suite at Shangri-La and mind I say, it was love at first sight. There's everything we need. In all honesty, I was expecting just a bedroom as we were flying out in 6 hours back to Sydney.

My favourite room has got to be the bathroom. I could live there all my life, with a gorgeous bathtub I can have hot bubble bathes and pretty tiles to stare at all day.

The Shangri-La at the Fort's team knew I love dessert so much, they took me down to the kitchen where all the magic happens! I was so impressed. The patisserie chefs make absolutely everything, from macarons to cake pops to pavlovas. Everyone in the kitchen was encouraged to play and to dream up all sorts of dessert creation. It was a dream come true!

I'm looking forward to returning to Shangri-La at the Fort. I'm obsessed with their mouth-watering desserts and I cannot wait to try them all next time!

6 hours is a short and sweet kind of stay. Cheers to Shangri-La at the Fort for a memorable experience in Manila.

Paalam Manila! Sa muling pagkikita... (Goodbye Manila! See you again...)
