BYRON BAY Overview
We love Byron Bay. Every Christmas, for the past 5 years, I've spent it with Leon's family up here in Mullumbimby, in Byron Shire. It is always such a treat swimming in Watego and Brunswick Heads everyday.
Here, I'm sharing my favourite things to do when in Byron Shire, and that includes pretty Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby.
GETTING TO BYRON
Flying in is probably the best option, hehe. There are two airports located close to Byron, the closest one in is Ballina Airport (20 minutes away) and Coolangatta Airport in Goldcoast (45 minutes drive).
Leon and I drove all the way from Sydney, passing through Newcastle and Central Coast. It took us 11 hours if the drive is done in one day. But this time around, we stayed in a cute AirBnb place in Forster. Thus, breaking our journey up into two days. There are lots of gorgeous beaches and lookouts with lighthouses which one can stop along the way.
CAPE BYRON LIGHTHOUSE
Oh, Byron you beauty. This gorgeous lighthouse sits on Australia's most easterly point. Built in the early 20th century, the Cape Byron Lighthouse is still active today and is Australia's most powerful lighthouse.
Lovely walks around the lighthouse with beautiful 360 degree view of the ocean and beaches. Sometimes, you can even spot a school of doplhins swimming from the distance.
My favourite time to go is when it's not windy and raining. LOL. Seriously, when the weather hits the high knots, straw hats will be flying and walking up against the strong winds feels like a huge trek.
If you're heading out for a Byron sunset, be prepared to hang out with 100 plus or so tourists at the lighthouse. The parking can be a nightmare too. The tip is to park at Little Watego Beach and go for a 15 minute walk up the hill towards the Byron Lighthouse. It is more scenic too :)

OZYMEX FISH TACOS
Yes, I've been obsessing about Ozymex ever since I had my first bite, a good 5 years ago, in Byron Bay. The fish taco is delicious. Topped with a ridiculous amount of fresh greens made up of iceberg lettuce, shallots and spanish onions. It is the bomb.
And to make things extra special, there are a gazillion Byron Bay Chilli sauces to choose from, ranging from Mild to Super Hot. You gotta try the infamous Fiery Coconut Chilli Sauce. Top notch!
3 tacos for $12, can't miss it for the world! A variety of chicken, fish, beef and pork to choose from.
OZYMEX 2/8 Jonson St, Byron Bay
Only 14 minutes drive from Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads is my favourite place to swim, eat and shop. Beautiful beaches and river just right next door to each other, who wouldn't love Brunswick Heads? Come here in summer and join the locals, paddling with their canoes or chilling out in their unicorn floats, in crystal clear water.
YAMI IS YUMMIEST
It truly is! I crave for Yami at Brunswick Heads everytime I'm in town. It's worth the 14 minute drive from Byron Bay. Delicious middle eastern wholesome food with possibly, THE BEST falafels and hummus in Australia.
Well, I could be over exaggerating here but I've tried so many falafels in my young life, this is my ultimate favourite.
Get the Falafel Pocket if you're going solo. Fresh and tasty, with generous servings which will leave you wanting more.
The Share Plate is the bomb (as seen in image). Jampacked with flavours of tahini, babaganoush, Israeli salad, tabouli, salsa, mushrooms, pickles, olives and pine nuts. Served with pita bread.
Yami is a great place to hang with family and friends. Good vibes where you can chill and head for a swim afterwards in the crystal clear Brunswick Heads River nearby.

THE LEGO BRICKWALL
Sunshine Trader is a cute gift shop where you can find beautiful and locally made products. But, what I'm obsessed about is the lego bricks built into a real
