What a feast it was at Erawan Tea Room, a cosy and chic restaurant in Bangkok. Part of Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, this place is a great spot to have delicious Thai dinner in the evening (and that was what we did on our 7 hour stop over in Bangkok!).
Starting off with appetisers, recommended by Linda (of...) are Deep Fried Chicken wrapped in pandan leaves and Assorted Snacks and Salad. Served in the cutest ceramic with a dragon boat head figure, we sampled the entree of pomelo salad and crabmeat dumplings with Thai herbs. For the adventurous, you gotta try the local delicacy, Grilled Pork Neck served herbed chilli dip.
Now, when you're here at Erawan Tea Room, the Chef Achara's signature dishes are not to be missed. Her signature soup, Coconut Milk Soup with Petuna Ocean Trout is just sublime. Now, think of hot and spicy Tom Yum soup served with fragrant coconut milk, and that's what we had. The chicken version is tops too!
Chef Achara's Signature Fried Rice Erawanis well known around the area. If you love spicy food, this fried rice cooked with crab meat and chilli paste is to-die-for!
For mains, we ordered Stir Fry Chicken Basil and Red Curry Tiger Prawns. Who doesn't love basil with chilli? The Minced Chicken Basil dish has a little spice kick to it, topped with crunchy basil leaves. The stir fried tiger prawns are packed full of flavour in a mild red curry sauce, which
Northern Style Stir Fried Vegetable and Kailan with Crispy Pork are my favourite. Two very simple dishes that I could just eat with white rice, all day. The sauce is garlicky, spicy and flavoursome.
Overall, Erawan Tea Room by Grand Hyatt Bangkok Erawan is a great place to dine in with family or friends. There's a huge variety of local Thai cuisines to choose from, truly. There are so many dishes to try, we only sampled a tenth of them!
